Ian Koryciaki

Hailing from Lapeer, MI, Ian Koryciak was born on September 18, 1990. Ian’s musical journey spans over 16 years, during which he’s mastered not just guitar but also bass, showcasing his versatility and passion for music.

Ian’s earliest memory of music takes him back to his childhood when he saw Bob Seger live in concert at just 5 or 6 years old—a moment that sparked his love for live performance and solidified his desire to express himself through music. Early influences from bands like Creed, 3 Doors Down, Haste The Day, and August Burns Red shaped his musical taste and helped him find his place in the rock and metal scene. Nowadays, he draws inspiration from heavier acts like Wage War, Sleep Token, and Fit for a King, channels their intensity into his own playing, and brings an undeniable energy to the stage.

When it comes to performing, Ian takes a simple yet effective approach. He mentally prepares by listening to the band’s songs, practicing relentlessly to ensure that every note is spot on. His favorite tracks to perform live are “Impale the King” and “It Felt Wrong Not to Swing”—songs he describes as just “fun” to play due to their powerful riffs and high-energy vibe.

Outside of music, Ian is a fan of PC gaming, mixing songs, and hitting the golf course—showing that his passions extend beyond the stage. His advice for aspiring musicians is to be open-minded and explore various genres, even those that may not initially appeal to you. “Be the black sheep,” he says, “don’t follow everyone else around.”

With his dedication to both his craft and self-expression, Ian Koryciak continues to push the limits of his musical abilities, both as a performer and as a creator. His energy and authenticity are a driving force behind Approaching Autumn’s dynamic sound.
